What is the point of photophosphorylation?
Photophosphyrlation is used to produce energy. Non-cyclic photophos. occurs when light is present and it occurs in two photosystems. Cyclic photophos. occurs in the absence of light and occurs only in photosystem II and does NOT produce NADPH. NADPH is an indicator of non-cyclic photophosphorylation. The point is that if non-cyclic photophosphorylation didn't exist then plants would need to be in light around the clock to produce energy! The cyclic photophos. allows plants to produce energy at night.
